Winter Golf
Posted in GOLF COURSE, JUNIOR GOLF, LADIES GOLF, MENS GOLF ... January 6th, 2017
The weather has been extremely kind to us over the last number of months and as such has allowed us to remain on the fairways.
In keeping with our course maintenance and management programme, we have now decided it is time to rest our fairways. We will now move off the fairways with effect from Saturday 7th January 2017 until 16th March 2017.
For all golf, both competition and social, the following practice must be adhered to
- Where a players shot comes to rest on the fairway, the ball must be lifted and moved to the first cut of rough either side of the fairway no nearer the hole. In the interests of fairness, players may choose the side of the fairway to which they move provided it is no nearer the hole, i.e. PLACING EVERYWHERE.
- Where a players shot comes to rest in the rough, the ball may be lifted, cleaned and placed in the rough, no nearer the hole
We will be doing our very best to maintain our greens and surrounds over the winter months. You will notice clear white cleans marked before each green. You are not permitted to bring trolleys, caddy cars or bags passed these lines. We would ask that you follow the marked arrows when moving to and from greens.
To assist us in maintaining our course over the winter golfing period we would ask that you comply with the following;
- Please take a sand bag with you to repair all divots
- Please repair all pitch marks
- Please rake bunkers towards the centre
- On days where buggies are permitted, Members must travel in the rough. Buggies must not be driven on fairways.
Although the weather has been kind to us, it is highly probable that due to frost, the course may on occasion be late opening.
When the Course Officer/Course Superintendent allow the course to open after the frost is cleared, it is the case the residual ice spots will build up on shoe spikes. You are asked to ensure that you clean ice spots from your shoes before making your way onto the greens.
We would like to thank you for your co-operation and support in these arrangements.
